Self-serving delusional bulldust you’ll ever read

So, of course, it’s from the ABC:

The ABC has not only helped shape Australia, we are the national voice that unites us.

It’s about democracy. Without the ABC we would have a balkanised and parochial bunch of broadcasters that are in danger of being compromised by profit and more intent on dividing than unifying.

Imagine what it would be like during the bushfire season if we had to rely only on state-based or even regionally based media outlets. When we are in the middle of bushfires, don’t we want to know that they are being covered by a knowledgeable and experienced network of journalists with all the supporting infrastructure of a large national network?

Oh, do read it all.

Of course, staff could take a pay cut to save the 250, right.

Well, it turns out some did. The ABC Board:

But as you can see, the board isn’t paid a lot.

However, there is some fat elsewhere in the remuneration report of the annual report (page 234):

Wow.

BTW: Salaries  and wages at the ABC in 2018-19 accounted for $397 million.

If they’d taken a 3.75 per cent pay cut they could have paid for the supposed budget cut.

Soccer players in the A-League have taken an 80 per cent pay cut.

Super Rugby players have taken a 60 per cent pay cut.

6000 Qantas workers have lost their jobs.

Channel Seven has a 20 per cent pay cut.

Nothing from the ABC. Wow. So much for the collective.

It’s looking bad for Trump in the polls

But thank God he’s running against Biden.

Is Victoria serious about COVID-19?

This almost seems to be a joke (from The Australian):

… almost a third of people in hotel quarantine have refused to be tested, outbreaks in security staff at two quarantine hotels responsible for at least 33 cases between them, and after Victoria’s number of active cases rose from 110 on Saturday, when the Andrews government decided to reimpose social distancing restrictions, to 183 on Friday.

This was confirmed by the Victorian Deputy Chief Medical Officer Annaliese van Diemen, but:

Dr Annaliese van Diemen would not be drawn on why some members of the community in Victoria’s COVID-19 hot spots rejected tests when authorities knocked on their door this week.

“I’m not going to discuss the reasons people may or may not wish to be tested,” she told reporters this afternoon.

But she had no problem finding motives for CaptainCook:

Sudden arrival of an invader from another land, decimating populations, creating terror. Forces the population to make enormous sacrifices & completely change how they live in order to survive. COVID19 or Cook 1770?
