Australians have accepted the fascism of COVID-19 restrictions on freedom of movement with some alacrity.

We’ve accepted it in the name of the “greater good”.

We’ve been prepared to stay indoors, to work from home, to see our gyms and restaurants closed.

But crap like this will create a revolt – as it should.

A learner driver out for a lesson with her mum and men enjoying a barbecue are among dozens of people fined in the latest disclosures from police in the crackdown on freedom of movement designed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

NSW Police said they had issued a further 17 personal infringement notices and eight court attendance notices, taking to 98 the number of people in NSW issued with PINs since their introduction on March 17.

Victoria Police has vowed to review the $1625 fine given to a 17-year-old girl for non-essential travel while she was taking a driving lesson.

Hunter Reynolds was about 20 minutes into the drive on Sunday when she was pulled over by police in Frankston and told she was “too far from home”.

Medical officers and police defended the decision to issue the fine, saying driving lessons were “not essential travel”.

So let’s get this straight. She was driving. In a car. With her mum. She’s 17 so she probably lives at home. She didn’t get out of the car (not that the police had identified).

This is heavy-handed. It’s precisely the type of response that desoys the credibility of the system.

police say they will review the decision.

She should take it to court. She should demand police defend their decision.

A simple summary of the revised COVID-19 modelling

There are other reports out there, but this Twitter thread has a neat summary of the revised data for COVID-19 casualties, ICU beds etc.

The basic message: the real world is different from the models.

The media fell for this because they wanted to fall for it

CBS News posted a video of a nurse who claimed she quit her job after being asked to work in a coronavirus ICU without a face mask.

“America is not prepared, and nurses are not being protected,” said the ICU nurse in the video. “I quit my job today. I went into work and I was assigned to a COVID patient on an ICU unit that has been converted to a designated COVID unit. None of the nurses are wearing masks.”

The Federalist has the facts.

BDS hates Israel (ie, Jews) but happy to take a cure for coronavirus

If you’re gonna hate, don’t be a hypocrite about it.

This is just weak:

If Israel finds a vaccine for coronavirus, boycotters can still take it, Omar Barghouti, founder of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement said on Sunday.

Glad to see self-interest can overcome anti-Semitism.

Does anyone know what he is saying?

Does he even know who he is? Where he is? What he’s doing?

Joe, it’s time for your nap.
